At Nicolet Area
Technical College, the payment of tuition and fees becomes an obligation at the
time of registration. The undersigned agrees to pay their obligations to
Nicolet Area Technical College (hereinafter referred to as “Nicolet College”)
in accordance with the following:
TERMS OF
AGREEMENT: This Agreement
will continue for as long as I am enrolled at Nicolet College or any obligation
remains unpaid in whole or in part. PROMISE TO PAY: I understand and
agree that I will pay tuition, course fees, activity fees, and other fees and
charges incurred by me as a student at Nicolet College. Semester Payments: I
will pay all tuition and fees owing by the start date of the term or register
for a payment plan. I will pay any
charges incurred during the term by the due date indicated on the billing by
Nicolet College.
FINANCIAL AID: I authorize Nicolet College to use any
financial aid received for payment toward tuition, fees and books.
TELEPHONE
AUTHORIZATION: I authorize
Nicolet College and their respective agents and contractors to contact me
regarding my tuition account at the current or any future number that I provide
to the College for my cellular phone or other wireless device using automated
telephone dialing equipment or artificial or prerecorded voice or text
messages. I understand that I will be responsible for charges that may result
from such communication to a wireless phone number.
Voluntarily WITHDRAWAL: I understand that, if I withdraw from
Nicolet College after the published refund dates, I remain liable for tuition
and fee charges remaining after Federal Aid has been adjusted per guidelines
placed on Title IV funds by the Department of Education. Official withdrawals
must be initiated by the student.
Administrative
Drop / Unofficial Withdrawal:
I understand that
I will be administratively dropped from my courses at the date of census for
nonparticipation and assume responsibility for the remaining balance after this
policy has been implemented.
For financial aid
purposes, Nicolet College recognizes two types of withdrawals: Administrative
Drops and Unofficial Withdrawals.
These are handled
as follows:
Administrative
Drops
If I don’t participate
in my courses by the census date, I may be administratively dropped. In that
case, I will receive an 80% tuition refund. For Competency-Based Education
(CBE) courses in the 8-week format, the refund is 60%. I understand that I am
responsible for paying any remaining balance after the drop.
Unofficial
Withdrawal
According to federal
financial aid regulations, if I receive all F (failure) grades or a combination
of F and W (withdrawal) grades during a term, I will be considered an
unofficial withdrawal. If I neglect to participate or engage in coursework, I
must repay all financial aid I received for that term, and I will still be
responsible for any outstanding tuition balance.
DEFAULT/COLLECTION
REMEDIES: I will be in
default if I fail to make payments when due under this agreement (including
failure to make payments due to insufficient funds in an account or failure to
make scheduled payments on a Payment Plan Agreement). I understand that failure
to pay will result in the following: 1) I will not be able to register for
subsequent terms or bill additional items or courses to my student account; 2)
My debt may be referred to the Department of Revenue, subject to the Tax
Intercept Program for collection of unpaid tuition and fees.
BANKRUPTCY: Nicolet College is a nonprofit
institution of higher education. As such, my obligation will be deemed to be
for the sole purpose of financing an education and is not dischargeable in
bankruptcy proceedings. Registration
and acceptance of these terms constitute a promissory note agreement (I.e., a
financial obligation in the form of an educational loan as defined by the U.S.
Bankruptcy Code at 11 U.S.C. §523(a)(8)) in which Nicolet College is providing
an educational services, deferring some or all payment obligation for those
services, and students promise to pay
for all assessed tuition, fees and other associated costs by the published or
assigned due date.
NOTICE OF
CHANGES: I will notify
Nicolet College immediately of any change in my address. Nicolet College reserves
the right to modify the terms and conditions of this agreement at any time by
notifying me in advance.
GOVERNING LAW: This agreement shall be
subject to the laws of the State of Wisconsin. Any dispute arising under this
agreement shall be venued in the First Judicial District Court in Oneida County,
Wisconsin.
